Youth Development Team
Friday, 17th August 2007
Lacrosse Australia is considering entering a team in an under age World Youth Invitational Tournament proposed to be held in Vancouver, Canada during the 2008 U19 World Championships.
In an extension of the successful Talent Identification Program (TIP) introduced several years ago, which culminates in those players now preparing for selection to the 2008 U19 Australian team, we are proposing a similar exercise where our young players have a chance to register and be considered for selection in this team to compete in Canada. The age group being considered is players born after 31st August 1992, who will be eligible to play for Australia in the next U19 World Championships in 2012. It must be clearly understood that if this proposal goes ahead, there is no guarantee that members of this team will be automatic selections for the 2012 team. The 2012 team will be selected as per the normal processes in place.
